Blake
Best’s trip isn’t off to a good start but by the end his life has taken a
turn. His trip has to do with the family
business but one thing you can’t control is your car. Life is almost the same. Parker Monteith is a man who loves a good
car. He has something in common with
Blake; he’s also a man that works in the family business.
I
liked the idea of a book narrated by a man.
One disappointment I had, and had nothing to do with the book, was that
the audio kept skipping. This could be
the Audible App on my iPad. Also would
have preferred a younger narrator – hard to imagine the age of the characters
with this narrator’s voice. His voice
sounded older and it seemed nasally. What
I did like was that he was using accents to let the reader know that he’s
speaking for a different character. And
there were a few sound effects, which I’ve never heard in any other audible I
have listened too.
Listening
to a book gives the reader a different experience than if they were to read it
themselves. One thing that I find hard
to hear, as apposed to when I read, is when the narrator swears. But he also adds a little something when he
gets to a sex scene – it just brings it more to life (may want to make sure you’re
wearing headphones if you’re not alone).
It’s like having a TV where the screen has burned out and all you have
left is the audio.
If
you like to read a book about two men, you might enjoy this book whether you
get the audio version or read it for yourself.
Another disappointment I had was that the book was short. And even though it is short, the author
doesn’t create a story that seems choppy or quickly put together. Her scenes flow from one to another. But having a short read is also good because
you can get it read, or listened to, in just one sitting. It’s a storyline that you can actually
picture happening in the “real” world. And
once you’re done, you may also want to check out some of the author’s other
material.
Kerry loves history and
spends large amounts of time wondering about people who lived and walked on
Earth in the past. She’s a mom to three daughters, six cats, and various small
animals, including a panther chameleon. Her shoe horde will attest to her fine
shopping skills.
In addition to writing,
she’s a college instructor, artist, costumer, and editor. Her new love is her
Mini Cooper Convertible, Sheldon, and they have already gone on many
adventures.
