Disclosure of Material Connection:  I received this book for review from Write Now Literary Book Tours and the author.  I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own.  I am posting this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255:  "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising".

Terrell Williams began life as the 2nd eldest son of 9 children (4 girls and 5 boys) and was reared in less than affluent circumstances. The second in his immediate family to graduate from college, he went on to marry a wonderful woman, and who eventually became the proud parents of 4 children (3 girls and 1 son who is also his namesake).

Mr. Williams enjoys reading and writing poetry, and he has written several plays that have been performed and were well received in Texas. The idea for his debut novel, But my Soul Is Black, lay dormant for many years until Mr. Williams finally finished the novel upon his retirement, fulfilling his dream of becoming a published author. His romantic tale tackles controversial topics such as interracial relationships, generational differences of conceptual thinking about life and love. This novel seeks to remind the readers of the interconnectedness we share as humans, as well as showing that truly, love transcends all!

But My Soul is Black, takes a candid look at interracial romance and the human experience. The book reveals the cultural misperceptions that harm us, and the love that heals us.

My Thoughts:

Bobby Selinski is starting his adult life.  His uncle sets him straight about his new life.  Our author writes this story as if we might be in a corner watching each scene play out.  We watch Bobby grow into a man with all the ups and downs that go along with it.

Bobby has an uncle that is taking him under his wing and helping to guide him to work his way up into his business.  He comes across an interesting character named Jimbo.  Jimbo feels threatened but it was interesting to watch him warm up to Bobby.  Vince is another interesting character.  I don’t know if he is the product of his upbringing but one minute he seems cool and the next he seems ignorant.  I found Bobby’s interactions with the men in this book more fascinating than when he develops a relationship with Karen Blackwell.  But the author has my interest piqued by how he ends the book.

This is a book that has me remembering how things were during my childhood.  A lot has to do with upbringing.  My parents always taught us to not look at the color of a person’s skin or their religion – we looked at the person.  But that doesn’t mean that the people around us felt the same.  With everything that has been happening in the news lately, some would say this is perfect timing.  The sad part is that if it weren’t for a book tour I probably would never have read this great book.  And I’m certainly interested to know if Mr. Williams has a follow up coming.  I would also read this book again.

Eric Callahan is a powerful man, and his sharp business sense earned him the nickname Shark. Yet under this fa├žade is a man who loves his daughter and would do anything for her. When he and his daughter move to San Francisco for three months, he has one thing in mind: expanding his business. As a widower, Eric is not looking for love. He focuses on his company, and his daughter - until he meets Pippa Bennett. She captivates him from the moment he sets eyes on her.

Pippa Bennett knows she should stay away from Eric Callahan. After going through a rough divorce, she doesn't trust men anymore. But there's something about him that draws her in. He has a body made for sin, and a sense of humor that matches hers. Not to mention seeing how adorable he is with his daughter melts her walls one by one.

The chemistry between them is undeniable, but it's the connection that grows deeper every day that has them wondering if love might be within reach. When it's time for Eric and his daughter to go home, will he give up on the woman who has captured his heart or do everything he can to remain by her side?

My Thoughts:

What did you love best about Your Forever Love?

It would have to be having Jeremy York read some of this book to me. My disappointment was that I wanted to hear more of him.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This could or could not be a surprise for you but I loved a secondary character. Eric has a daughter that just stole my heart. I came to look forward to the scenes she was in. Julie was sweet and took to Pippa almost right away. She's a perfect fit for the Bennett's.

What does Kendall Taylor and Jeremy York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I had to warm up to her but Kendall Taylor was a good choice for Pippa. I started to picture Pippa and her interactions with Eric as the story went on. I have a narrator crush and his name is Jeremy York. I came to look forward to the scenes that he would read to me. I actually liked when he became Julie, Eric's daughter.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but when you work a full time job it becomes almost impossible. But the good thing was that I had yard work to do this pass weekend and it helped me forget, almost, how hot and humid it was outside.

Any additional comments?

Ms. Hagen left me looking forward to getting to know more about the Bennett family. Pippa is the family matchmaker and there are two brothers before this book that I need to know their stories. I think I'll be busy for a while after I get those two out of the way since there are four more. I did not, however, fell lost at all not having read Sebastian and Logan's stories. This just may be a series that I will only listen to since I like having someone read to me. It's also a series that I can see myself listening to more than once.

In the darkness is where I first met him.
Alone at a water fountain, tears rolling down my cheeks.
Ready to give up.
From the shadows, his voice came to me.
Soothing.  Comforting. Rough as the blackest night.
I didn’t see him.
I didn’t even know his name.
All I knew was he saved me that night.
He put my back on my feet.
And he kept me on them.
Every single time I needed him, he found a way to come to me.
My stranger of the night.
My dark warrior.
My name is Scarlett. You probably know me.
I’m America’s number one country music star.
I’m also the loneliest girl you’ll ever meet.
He’s as free as a bird. A nomad. Travelling alone.
Nobody to hold him back.
He holds the freedom I pray for every single day.
